Editorial policy
We write about eSIMs and we sell eSIMs. That is a conflict of interest, not a secret, and the point of this page is to say exactly how we handle it.
What we sell
Wanderly is a retailer of prepaid travel eSIM data plans. We make money when you buy one. Every comparison on this site is written by a company with a commercial interest in one of the options, including the pages comparing us to named competitors. Read them with that in mind, and check the methodology below for how we keep those comparisons factual.
Who writes this
Informational content is published under the Wanderly name rather than individual bylines, and the company is accountable for it. We would rather say that than invent a masthead: a named author with a fabricated biography tells you nothing true about who verified a fact. If that changes — if there are named people doing this work whose experience is worth citing — they will appear here with their real background, not a generated one.
Where facts come from
- Device behaviour — from the manufacturer. iPhone and iPad behaviour from Apple's own documentation, Android from Google and the specific handset maker. We do not infer what a phone does from what a similar phone does.
- Carrier and network claims — from the carrier or the network operator. Where we cannot source a claim to an operator, we do not make it.
- Regulatory claims — from the regulator. Roaming rules, registration requirements and similar vary by country and change; we cite the authority rather than a secondary article about it.
- Data consumption figures — from the service being measured, at its default quality on a cellular connection. The rates behind the travel data calculator are listed with their sources on that page.
- Our own prices and plans — read from the live retail catalogue, not copied into an article by hand. This is why the price index cannot quietly disagree with what the storefront charges.
Prices and availability
Plan prices, allowances and validity change as suppliers change them. Figures shown on destination and research pages are read live rather than written into the page, so they are current at the moment you load them. Prices are retail USD and exclude tax unless a page says otherwise. Any figure quoted elsewhere from this site should carry the date it was read.
Corrections
If something here is wrong, we want to fix it rather than defend it. Tell us through the contact page and point at the claim. Substantive corrections to a factual page are made in the page itself rather than appended as a note, because the page is what people read; where a correction changes the meaning of a published figure, the research page carries the change in its methodology section.
AI and automation
We use software to generate and maintain parts of this site, particularly pages derived from the plan catalogue. What we do not do is publish a factual claim that no one has checked against the source above. The distinction that matters is not whether a tool was involved; it is whether the claim is true and sourceable.
