Cyprus has cheap travel data and strong coverage along its coast and in the Troodos villages. It also has a trap that catches thousands of visitors a year: the island is divided, and the north uses Turkish Cypriot networks that are not covered by EU roaming. Crossing the Green Line in Nicosia — or just driving near it — can switch your phone onto one.

Short answer: a Cyprus plan works across the Republic of Cyprus. If you plan to visit the north (Kyrenia, Famagusta, North Nicosia), check that your plan covers it, and keep your home line's data roaming off.

What a Cyprus eSIM costs

At the time of writing (October 2026), Wanderly's Cyprus plans start at $2.99, with 10GB around $6. The median across data-only Cyprus plans is about $0.70 per GB, well under the $1.43 median across 187 countries in the Wanderly eSIM Price Index. Some larger bundles are short-validity, so check against your dates.

The north–south divide

  • Republic of Cyprus (Limassol, Paphos, Larnaca, Ayia Napa, south Nicosia): EU member, EU roaming applies. Networks: Cyta, Epic and PrimeTel.
  • Northern Cyprus (Kyrenia/Girne, Famagusta, north Nicosia): served by Turkish Cypriot networks. EU roaming rules do not apply there, and a Republic-of-Cyprus plan may not work.
  • Near the Green Line and in Nicosia's old town, phones can switch networks without you crossing anything.

Set network selection to manual on a Republic network when you are in the south near the line.

Coverage where you will actually be

  • Limassol, Larnaca, Paphos, Ayia Napa, Protaras: excellent.
  • Troodos mountains: good in villages; patchier on trails.
  • Akamas Peninsula and the Blue Lagoon: limited in remote parts.
