Jordan's classic route — Amman, Jerash, the Dead Sea, Petra, Wadi Rum and Aqaba — is mostly well covered, with two famous exceptions: deep inside Petra and out in the Wadi Rum desert camps. Travel data is pricier than average, so sizing the plan correctly matters.

Short answer: a 3–5GB plan with 30-day validity covers most one-week trips. Download your Jordan Pass, Petra tickets and offline maps before you go.

What a Jordan eSIM costs

At the time of writing (October 2026), Wanderly's Jordan plans start at $3.99 for 1GB (7 days), with 3GB for 15 days around $9 and 5GB for 30 days around $13. Larger plans cost $2.20–$2.60 per GB — well above the $1.43 global median in the Wanderly eSIM Price Index.

That means: buy what you will actually use, and lean on hotel WiFi for video calls and photo backups. The upside is that Jordan's plans come with 15- and 30-day validity.

Networks and coverage

Jordan's networks are Zain, Orange and Umniah. Travel eSIMs connect to a partner network automatically.

  • Amman: strong 4G.
  • Jerash and Madaba: good coverage.
  • Dead Sea resorts: good.
  • Petra: coverage in Wadi Musa and near the visitor centre; patchy deeper in the site and on the Monastery and High Place of Sacrifice trails.
  • Wadi Rum: coverage in Rum Village; many desert camps have little or none (some offer WiFi).
  • Aqaba: good. Near the borders, phones can pick up Israeli or Egyptian networks — keep your eSIM selected and your home line's data roaming off.
  • Desert Highway and King's Highway: generally covered, with gaps in remote stretches.
