Belgium is small, dense and completely covered: Brussels, Bruges, Ghent and Antwerp all have strong 4G and 5G, and trains between them keep signal. Because the country is so small, the main question is whether a Belgium plan or a Europe plan fits a trip that probably also includes Paris, Amsterdam or London.

Short answer: a 5GB Belgium plan with 15- or 30-day validity covers a week. Arriving or leaving on the Eurostar to London? Check that your plan covers the UK too.

What a Belgium eSIM costs

At the time of writing (October 2026), Wanderly's Belgium plans start at $2.99 for 1GB, with 5GB for 15 days around $5 and 10GB for 30 days around $8. The median across data-only Belgium plans is about $0.80 per GB, well under the $1.43 median across 187 countries in the Wanderly eSIM Price Index.

Do you need an eSIM with your phone plan?

EU plans roam in Belgium at domestic rates, subject to fair use. UK plans usually charge a daily fee for Europe, and US and Canadian plans a day pass — see eSIM vs international plan.

Coverage where you will actually be

Belgium's networks are Proximus, Orange and Telenet. Travel eSIMs connect to a partner network automatically.

  • Brussels (including the metro): excellent.
  • Bruges, Ghent, Antwerp, Leuven: excellent.
  • The Ardennes (Dinant, Durbuy, Bouillon): good in towns; patchier in the forests and river valleys.
  • The coast (Ostend, Knokke): good.
  • Eurostar: coverage drops in the Channel Tunnel.

Near the French, Dutch, German and Luxembourg borders, phones can switch to a neighbouring network — fine on an EU plan, but a Belgium-only eSIM covers Belgium only.
