This guide is about Georgia the country — Tbilisi, Kazbegi, Svaneti and the wine region of Kakheti. Georgia has good mobile coverage in its towns and along the main roads, cheap travel data, and some genuinely remote mountain areas where signal disappears. It is not in the EU, so EU phone plans do not automatically roam there at home rates.

Short answer: a 5–10GB Georgia plan installed before you fly suits most trips. Download offline maps before heading into Svaneti, Tusheti or long hikes.

What a Georgia eSIM costs

At the time of writing (October 2026), Wanderly's Georgia plans start at $2.99 for 1GB, with 10GB for 7 days around $8. The median across data-only Georgia plans is about $0.80 per GB, well under the $1.43 median across 187 countries in the Wanderly eSIM Price Index. Some larger bundles are short-validity, so check against your dates.

Coverage where you will actually be

Georgia's networks are Magti, Silknet and Cellfie. Travel eSIMs connect to a partner network automatically.

  • Tbilisi (including the metro): strong 4G.
  • Batumi and the Black Sea coast: good.
  • Kazbegi (Stepantsminda) and Gergeti Trinity Church: coverage in town and at the church; patchier on higher trails.
  • Kakheti (Sighnaghi, Telavi): good in towns.
  • Svaneti (Mestia, Ushguli): coverage in Mestia; patchy on the Mestia–Ushguli trek.
  • Tusheti: very limited. Plan for offline days.
