🇬🇹 About eSIMs in Guatemala

Guatemala runs on Claro and Tigo, and Wanderly eSIMs use both. Coverage is good in Guatemala City, Antigua, Xela and around Lake Atitlán, and workable at Tikal and Flores, which is more than most travelers expect from the Petén region.

The highlands are where it gets uneven. Villages around Atitlán vary lake-side to lake-side, the Acatenango and Fuego trailheads lose signal above the treeline, and the road to Semuc Champey has long gaps. Offline maps plus downloaded shuttle bookings will save you a lot of stress on transfer days.

For 7–14 days of maps, WhatsApp coordination with shuttles and guides, and photo uploads, 5–10 GB is the practical range. Installation is a 90-second QR scan at home before you fly.

Guatemala eSIM FAQ

Which networks does the eSIM use?

Claro and Tigo, the two carriers with national coverage in Guatemala.

Is there signal at Lake Atitlán and Tikal?
