Samsung keeps eSIM controls in SIM manager, which makes dual-SIM setup unusually clear once you know where to look. Galaxy S20 and newer, Z Fold, Z Flip, Note 20 and several A-series models support eSIM — with the caveat that some regional variants, particularly US carrier-branded and mainland-China models, do not.
Add the eSIM
- Connect to Wi-Fi.
- Settings > Connections > SIM manager > Add eSIM.
- Tap Scan QR code from service provider, or Enter activation code to type the details manually.
- Confirm the download and wait for the profile to install.
- Rename the SIM to "Travel" so the two lines are easy to tell apart.
Set it as your data line
- Back in SIM manager, under Preferred SIM, set Mobile data to the travel eSIM.
- Leave Calls and Messages on your home SIM.
- Tap the travel eSIM and turn on Roaming (or Settings > Connections > Mobile networks > Data roaming).
- Toggle airplane mode to re-register.
If it does not connect
- Reset the APN to default rather than entering one manually.
- Check the phone is carrier-unlocked — Samsung devices bought on contract often are not.
- Try manual network selection under Mobile networks > Network operators.
