Search "Airalo promo code", "Airalo coupon" or "Airalo discount code" and you get a hundred sites listing codes. Most are expired, some never existed, and a few are affiliate links dressed up as coupons. This guide explains how Airalo discounts actually work so you can tell the difference — and covers when a discount code still leaves you paying more than you needed to.
We sell travel eSIMs ourselves, so read the last section with that in mind. Everything before it is just how Airalo works. We checked every Airalo term below on Airalo's own site on 24 October 2026.
The four real sources of Airalo discounts
1. Campaign codes, including new-user codes. Airalo publishes terms for its promo codes on its own site. On 24 October 2026, Airalo's campaign page for the code NEWTOAIRALO15 (titled "Affiliate New User Code 2026") described 15% off an eSIM purchase, capped at a $100 discount, valid until 1 January 2027, and not combinable with any other promotion. Terms can change or end early, so check the total at checkout before you pay.
2. Referral codes. Every Airalo account has a referral code, found under "Refer and earn" in your profile. A friend who uses it gets US$3 off their first purchase, and you get US$3 in Airmoney once they buy. Airalo says there is no cap on how many people you can refer. One catch: Airalo says the friend may not get the referral discount if they have already used other Airalo promotions.
3. Airmoney. This is Airalo's loyalty credit. Every account starts at the Traveler level with 5% back in Airmoney, rising to 6% (Silver, after $20 spent), 7% (Gold, after $70) and 10% (Platinum, after $200). It isn't a discount code, but for repeat travellers it adds up, and it's the reason a lot of frequent flyers stay with Airalo. Worth checking your balance before you buy — people forget it's there.
4. Seasonal campaigns and deals. Airalo also runs time-limited campaigns. Its own site still hosts the terms for an older one, AUGUST10: 10% off, valid 1–31 August 2023, limited to the first 2,000 redemptions. That code is long expired — which is exactly how dead codes end up on coupon sites. If you are looking for an Airalo deal, check the app and Airalo's own emails rather than a list.
Airalo coupon codes, voucher codes and discount codes: the same thing
People search for an "Airalo coupon", an "Airalo coupon code", an "Airalo voucher" and an "Airalo discount code" as if they were different products. At checkout they are not. Airalo has one step for all of them: choose Use Airmoney or code, select Code, enter it and redeem it. Airalo's help centre covers discount and referral codes; it doesn't describe a separate voucher product.
Two rules from Airalo's own help pages are worth knowing before you try anything:
- One discount method per order. You can use a code or Airmoney, but Airalo says you can't combine both in the same order.
- Discounted orders don't earn Airmoney. Airalo says Airmoney cannot be earned when a discount coupon or referral reward is applied to a purchase.
So a coupon code is not always the best choice. If you have a large Airmoney balance, spending it may beat a small code.
How to apply an Airalo discount code
Enter the code at checkout, before you pay. The steps are the same on the website and in the app, although the button wording can differ slightly:
- 1Choose the plan first. Check the destination, data allowance and validity before you think about the discount.
- 2Sign in and go to checkout. Referral and first-purchase codes are tied to your account.
- 3Open "Use Airmoney or code" and select Code. If you were planning to spend Airmoney, decide now: you can use one or the other on an order.
- 4Paste the whole code. Remove stray spaces but keep every character, including any punctuation in the official code.
- 5Tap Redeem, then read the total. Only the lower total confirms that the code applied. Check the plan is still the one you chose before you pay.
If the total did not drop, do not pay on the assumption the discount will be added later.
Airalo promo code not working? Check these first
A rejected code is often an eligibility problem rather than a typo. Before giving up on it:
- 1First-purchase rules. Many codes, and referral discounts, are for a first eSIM only. If you have bought from Airalo before, they will not apply.
- 2Already redeemed. Campaign codes are often one use per customer.
- 3Dates and redemption caps. A campaign can end early once it hits its redemption limit, even before its published end date.
- 4Airmoney or another code on the order. Only one discount method works per order, so remove the other one and try again.
- 5Payment method. Some campaign terms list which payment methods qualify.
If every condition is met and the code still fails, screenshot the error and ask Airalo support before you buy.
Why most codes you find online don't work
The "Airalo promo code" search results are dominated by coupon aggregators whose business model is affiliate commission, not accuracy. A few patterns to recognise:
- Expired codes left up deliberately. A page listing 30 codes where 28 are dead still ranks, still gets clicks, and still earns commission when you give up and click through to buy anyway.
- "Codes" that are just affiliate links. You click, no code is applied, but the site earns a commission on your purchase. You saved nothing.
- Invented codes. Generated to fill out a list and make the page look comprehensive.
- Influencer and affiliate codes. These are often real, and Airalo does run affiliate codes — NEWTOAIRALO15 is one. Worth using if one applies, just don't expect a creator's code to beat the offers above.
The reliable test: a genuine code applies at checkout and visibly reduces the total. If the total doesn't change, the code did nothing.
How much can you actually save?
Realistically, US$3 to 15% on a first purchase, depending on which code applies, and 5–10% back in Airmoney on repeat orders where no code is used. Seasonal campaigns come and go.
That matters for expectations. A 15% discount on a $9.99 plan saves you $1.50. If a different provider is $2 cheaper on the same allowance, the discount code is the wrong thing to be optimising.
Is there an Airalo free eSIM or free trial?
Not that we could find. On 24 October 2026 we found no free eSIM, free trial or free data offer on Airalo's site or in its help centre. The closest thing is the US$3 referral discount on a first purchase.
If a free trial is what you are after, Wanderly offers a free eSIM to first-time users. It has a fixed data allowance, shown for your destination in the app before you claim, and it is limited to one per account and one per device. It does not start a subscription.
The thing coupon sites won't tell you
A discount is only meaningful relative to the starting price. Travel eSIM pricing varies enormously by destination — the same 5GB allowance can differ by several dollars between providers depending on which local carrier agreement each one holds in that country.
So the sequence that actually saves money is:
- 1Compare the base price for your specific destination and data amount across a few providers
- 2Then apply whatever discount is available on the cheapest option
Doing it the other way round — picking a provider because you found a code, then paying their price — is how people end up paying more with a discount than they'd have paid without one somewhere else.
Before you buy from anyone
A few checks that save more money than any promo code:
- Confirm your phone supports eSIM and is carrier-unlocked. Settings → General → About → look for an EID, and check Carrier Lock says "No SIM restrictions". Our iPhone eSIM compatibility list covers every model.
- Buy the right amount of data. Overbuying is the most common way travellers waste money — far more than they'd save on any code. See how much data you actually need.
- Check whether a regional plan is cheaper. If you're visiting three European countries, one Europe plan usually beats three local ones.
- Don't activate early. Most plans start counting when they first connect to a network at your destination, not at purchase — but install ahead of time so you're online when you land.
