Eligible first-time users can claim one free eSIM. The app shows the destination's allowance and validity before claiming. The data allowance does not renew into a paid data plan, and a quick card check may be requested.
If a card check is requested, you enter a card on a secure Stripe page and your bank confirms it. You are not charged, and no subscription is created, so there is nothing to cancel later.
The offer is real and it is running, but it can only be claimed inside the Wanderly mobile app. The website cannot complete a claim, so the first step is always installing the app.
How to claim your free eSIM
- Install the Wanderly app: iOS from the App Store at https://apps.apple.com/us/app/wanderly-esim-travel-data/id6760324071, Android from Google Play at https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.getwanderly.wanderly
- Open the app and create a free account, or sign in if you already have one.
- On the Home tab, tap the "Your free eSIM is waiting" banner.
- Pick your destination, complete the card check if the app asks for one, then the eligibility and review steps shown in the app. A card check alone does not approve a free eSIM.
- Install the eSIM on your phone as you would any Wanderly plan, then turn on data roaming for that line when you arrive.
What you get
- Data on us, in the amount shown against the destination you choose. It is a try-before-you-buy allowance, not a full travel plan.
- Typically 7 days of validity, counted from when the eSIM activates on the network rather than from when you claim it.
- A data-only eSIM: it carries internet, not voice calls or SMS. Keep your normal SIM active for calls and texts, or buy one of our paid Calls & texts plans, which come with a phone number of their own.
- The data allowance does not renew, and nothing is billed afterwards.
The card check
If a card check is requested, you enter a card on a secure Stripe page and your bank confirms it. You are not charged, and no subscription is created, so there is nothing to cancel later.
Use a credit or debit card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. Your bank may ask you to approve the check in its app or by code; that is the bank confirming it is you, not a payment.
Deleting the app or the eSIM changes nothing about the card check: there is no subscription to cancel.
Stripe handles your card details. We keep the card type, issuing country and a protected card identifier to help prevent repeated free claims. We never see or store your full card number or security code.
Who is eligible
- One free eSIM per account and one per device, ever. Claiming again on a second account from the same phone will be declined.
- You need the Wanderly app. The free eSIM cannot be claimed on the website, by email or by contacting support.
- The offer runs to a daily limit across all customers, so if claims are exhausted for the day, trying again the next day usually works.
- Not every destination has a free option. If yours is not in the list, the paid plans for that country start at ordinary catalogue prices.
Frequently asked questions
Is the free eSIM really free?
Yes. The eligible data allowance is free and does not renew into a paid data plan. If a card check is requested, you enter a card on a secure Stripe page and your bank confirms it. You are not charged, and no subscription is created, so there is nothing to cancel later.
How much free data do I get?
It depends on the destination you pick, and the app shows the exact allowance against each one before you claim. Validity is usually 7 days from when the eSIM activates.
How do I claim the free eSIM?
Install the Wanderly app, create a free account, then tap the "Your free eSIM is waiting" banner on the Home tab and choose your destination. The allowance for that destination is shown before you confirm. It cannot be claimed on the website.
Can I claim the free eSIM on the website?
No. The claim happens in the Wanderly app for iOS or Android, because the offer is limited to one per device and only the app can confirm that.
Can I claim more than one free eSIM?
No. It is one per account and one per device, permanently. After that, paid plans are the way to add more data.
Does the free eSIM include calls and texts?
No. The free eSIM is data-only, so keep your usual SIM active if you need calls or SMS verification codes. Our paid Calls & texts plans do include a phone number, calling and usually SMS — look for the "Calls & texts" tab on your destination's page.
When does the validity start?
When the eSIM activates on a network in the destination, not when you claim it. You can claim it before you travel without losing days.
