Does the Google Pixel 6 Have eSIM?

Yes — the Pixel 6, 6 Pro and 6a all support eSIM, running one eSIM plus one physical nano-SIM at the same time.

Every Pixel 6 variant — the 6, 6 Pro and the later 6a — includes eSIM hardware next to a physical nano-SIM tray. Unlike the Pixel 8, this generation keeps only one eSIM active at a time, so the usual travel setup is your home nano-SIM plus a downloaded travel profile.

The Pixel 6 was also the generation where Google moved eSIM controls into Settings > Network & internet > SIMs, which is where the download option still lives today.

    Regional caveats and limits

    • Only one eSIM profile can be active at a time on the Pixel 6; dual-eSIM arrived with the Pixel 8.
    • Some early Pixel 6 builds failed eSIM downloads over certain Wi-Fi networks — update to the latest Android release before installing.
    • Carrier-locked units will not accept a third-party travel eSIM.
    • Deleted eSIM profiles cannot be restored from the original QR code.

How to set up an eSIM on Google Pixel 6

    1. Connect to Wi-Fi and turn off any VPN.
    2. Settings > Network & internet > SIMs.
    3. Tap + and choose to download a SIM instead.
    4. Scan the QR code from your order email, or enter the activation details manually.
    5. Set the new line as your mobile data SIM and keep calls on the physical SIM.
    6. Enable Roaming on the travel line after you land.

    Frequently asked questions

Does the Pixel 6 have eSIM?

Yes. The Pixel 6, 6 Pro and 6a all include eSIM alongside a nano-SIM tray.

Can the Pixel 6 run two eSIMs?

No. It keeps one eSIM active at a time, plus one physical SIM. Dual-eSIM started with the Pixel 8.

Where is the eSIM setting on a Pixel 6?

Settings > Network & internet > SIMs, then tap the + button.

My Pixel 6 eSIM download keeps failing — why?

Usually an outdated Android build, an active VPN, or a captive-portal Wi-Fi network. Update, disable the VPN, and retry on a normal connection.

Does a travel eSIM work on the Pixel 6a?

Yes. The 6a has the same eSIM support as the Pixel 6 and works normally with travel data plans.

If your Google Pixel 6 supports eSIM, a Wanderly travel plan installs in a couple of minutes and keeps your home number active.
