    Does the iPhone 11 Have eSIM?

    Yes — the iPhone 11, 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max all support eSIM, with the exception of models sold in mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau.

    The iPhone 11 generation runs Dual SIM Dual Standby: one physical nano-SIM plus one eSIM, both active at the same time. You can store several eSIM profiles but only keep one of them active, which is plenty for travel — you install the plan for the country you are in and leave your home SIM handling calls.

    To confirm your handset, open Settings > General > About and scroll to the EID row. An EID number means the eSIM chip is there.

    Regional caveats and limits

    • Models sold in mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau ship with two physical SIM trays and no eSIM hardware. This cannot be changed in software.
    • Only one eSIM is active at a time on the iPhone 11; dual active eSIM arrived with the iPhone 13.
    • The handset must be carrier-unlocked before a third-party travel eSIM will connect.
    • The iPhone 11 is 4G/LTE only. That caps your speed on some networks, but it does not affect eSIM itself.
    • Update to the latest iOS the device supports — older builds occasionally fail profile downloads.

    How to set up an eSIM on iPhone 11

    1. Connect to Wi-Fi and turn off any VPN.
    2. Settings > Cellular > Add Cellular Plan.
    3. Scan the QR code from your order email, or tap Enter Details Manually for the SM-DP+ address and activation code.
    4. Label the plan "Travel" and keep your home number as the default voice line.
    5. After landing: set Cellular Data to the travel plan and switch on Data Roaming for that line.
