Which Samsung Galaxy A-Series Phones Have eSIM?
Some do — the Galaxy A54 and A55 support eSIM in most regions, but many A-series models, including several A15 variants, do not have eSIM hardware at all.
The A-series is where Samsung's eSIM support is least predictable. Unlike the S flagships, eSIM on the A-series is decided model by model and region by region — two phones with the same name sold in different countries can differ.
The A54 and A55 are the models most likely to have it. The A15, A25 and lower-numbered models frequently do not, even where the spec sheet is ambiguous.
There is only one reliable test: Settings > Connections > SIM manager. If "Add eSIM" is missing, the phone has no usable eSIM regardless of what a comparison site claims.
Galaxy A-series eSIM support
| Model | eSIM support |
|---|---|
| Galaxy A55 5G | Supported in most regions |
| Galaxy A54 5G | Supported in most regions |
| Galaxy A35 / A34 5G | Varies by region — check SIM manager |
| Galaxy A15 / A25 | Usually no eSIM; varies by regional variant |
| A-series (mainland China) | No eSIM |
Regional caveats and limits
- A-series eSIM support varies between regional variants of the SAME model name — never rely on the model number alone.
- If SIM manager has no "Add eSIM" entry, the phone cannot use a travel eSIM and needs a physical SIM instead.
- Carrier-locked A-series handsets will not accept third-party profiles even where the hardware exists.
- Where eSIM is present, only one profile can be active at a time alongside a physical SIM.
How to set up an eSIM on Samsung Galaxy A-series
- Check first: Settings > Connections > SIM manager — confirm "Add eSIM" exists before buying a plan.
- Connect to Wi-Fi and turn off any VPN.
- SIM manager > Add eSIM > Scan QR code from service provider.
- Or choose Enter activation code and type the SM-DP+ address manually.
- Set Mobile data to the travel eSIM and leave Calls on your home SIM.
- Turn on Roaming for the travel line, then toggle airplane mode to register.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Samsung Galaxy A15 eSIM compatible?
Usually not. Most A15 variants ship without eSIM hardware, though it varies by region — check Settings > Connections > SIM manager to confirm.
Does the Galaxy A54 have eSIM?
Yes, in most regions. It is one of the A-series models where eSIM is widely enabled.
Does the Galaxy A55 support eSIM?
Yes in most markets, with the usual exceptions for mainland-China variants and some carrier models.
How do I know if my A-series phone has eSIM?
Settings > Connections > SIM manager. If there is no "Add eSIM" option, the phone does not support it.
What if my A-series phone has no eSIM?
You will need a physical travel SIM instead, or a pocket Wi-Fi device — an eSIM cannot be added in software.
If your Samsung Galaxy A-series supports eSIM, a Wanderly travel plan installs in a couple of minutes and keeps your home number active.
