Which Samsung Galaxy A-Series Phones Have eSIM?

Some do. Samsung lists the Galaxy A57, A56, A55 and A37 as eSIM models; the A54, A36 and A35 only in Europe, North America and Korea (A54 also Japan); and the A27, A26, A17 5G and A16 5G only in North America. The A15, A34 and older models are not on Samsung's list.

Before buying a travel eSIM

  1. Check your exact model and purchase region, look for Add eSIM in the SIM settings and ask your home carrier to confirm that the handset is unlocked.
  2. Compare your model and purchase region with the table below. A second IMEI can belong to a physical SIM and does not prove eSIM support.
  3. Choose plans for your destination and check coverage, validity and what starts the activation clock. Install over Wi-Fi following the instructions for the plan you bought.

The A-series is where Samsung's eSIM support is least predictable. Unlike the S flagships, eSIM on the A-series is decided model by model and region by region — two phones with the same name sold in different countries can differ.

Samsung publishes which A-series models support eSIM and where. The table below follows that list: some models are listed without a regional restriction, some only for Europe, North America and Korea, and the cheaper A16, A17, A26 and A27 only for North America.

The deciding test is on the phone itself: Settings > Connections > SIM manager. If "Add eSIM" is missing, the phone has no usable eSIM regardless of what a comparison site claims.

Regional caveats and limits

  • A-series eSIM support varies between regional variants of the SAME model name — an A35 bought in Europe can have eSIM while one bought in Asia does not. Where you bought the phone matters more than where you travel.
  • If SIM manager has no "Add eSIM" entry, the phone cannot use a travel eSIM and needs a physical SIM instead.
  • Carrier-locked A-series handsets will not accept third-party profiles even where the hardware exists.
  • Where eSIM is present, only one profile can be active at a time alongside a physical SIM.

How to set up an eSIM on Samsung Galaxy A-series

  1. Check first: Settings > Connections > SIM manager — confirm "Add eSIM" exists before buying a plan.
  2. Connect to Wi-Fi and turn off any VPN.
  3. SIM manager > Add eSIM > Scan QR code from service provider.
  4. Or choose Enter activation code and type the SM-DP+ address manually.
  5. Set Mobile data to the travel eSIM and leave Calls on your home SIM.
  6. Turn on Roaming for the travel line, then toggle airplane mode to register.

Is the Samsung Galaxy A15 eSIM compatible?

The A15 is not on Samsung's list of eSIM models, so plan on a physical SIM. Check Settings > Connections > SIM manager: if there is no "Add eSIM" option, it cannot use one.

Does the Galaxy A54 have eSIM?

Only A54s sold in Europe, North America, Korea and Japan, according to Samsung. An A54 bought elsewhere may not show "Add eSIM" in SIM manager.

Does the Galaxy A55 support eSIM?

Yes. Samsung lists the A55 as an eSIM model without a regional restriction. Carrier-locked phones can still refuse a third-party eSIM.

Do the Galaxy A16, A17, A26 and A27 have eSIM?

Only North American models, according to Samsung. The same phones sold in other regions are not on its eSIM list.

Does the Galaxy A36 or A35 support eSIM?
